The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira, on Saturday expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the local government elections in the State.
He told newsmen at unit 10 of Ilesha-Baruba ward in Baruten Local Government Area (LGA) where he voted that the polls were peaceful and transparent.
Kisira commended the Kwara State Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) for “ a job well done.’’
Dr Lafia Aliyu Kora-Sabi, the outgoing Chairman of the Baruten LGA, also said the conduct of the election was peaceful.
He told NAN in Yashikira that he was delighted and overwhelmed with the turnout of people in the area.
He condemned the call in some quarters to stop the state electoral bodies from conducting local government elections, saying they were “performing perfectly well.’’
