Lagos – Mr Joe Igbokwe, Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State, says the victory of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the state’s Governor-elect is a call to duty.
Igbokwe told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that “it is a mandate to go and take the state to the next level’’.
Ambode was announced winner of Saturday’s governorship election after securing 811,994 votes against his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s closest rival, Jimmy Agbaje, who scored 659,788 votes. [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
“We will celebrate, roll ourselves and then go back to work; what I mean is that, it is a call to duty,’’ he said.
Igbokwe said the APC had done tremendous things in the state in the last 16 years and that Ambode would not fail to add more value when he assumes office come May 29.
“We believe that this time the Federal Government will help us, now that we are fully connected to the centre.
“Much is expected of him and he will open Lagos more than ever before,’’ Igbokwe said.
He commended INEC for conducting a free and fair election, saying the card reader was a wonderful innovation. (NAN)
