IKEJA – The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Mr Kayode Aderanti, on Thursday called on residents of Lagos to team up with the police to ensure protection of lives and property.
Aderanti made this known to newsmen after a meeting with Gov. Babatunde Fashola in Ikeja. [eap_ad_1] He said the cooperation of all stakeholders was needed to maintain the peace in the state and rid it of criminals.
The commissioner said he would work effectively to implement the state`s security master plan and would work with stakeholders to ensure better policing.
“I want to move police forward and I want it to be community-based. I want to break the barrier between the police and the public.
“I want this state to be one of the best in terms of security. I know that this is the commercial nerve centre of the country with a lot of private-based industry.
“I have assured the governor that I will do more to ensure that the state is safe always,’’ he said.
According to him, I know that there is a nexus between the level of crime and foreign direct investment in every part of the country.
“I want to ensure that all the investors that are coming into the country have perfect security in place for them.
“They do not need to nurse any fear. This is a very safe state for anyone to conduct his or her business,’’ he said.
He warned criminals to look for other business to do as he and his men would make the state uncomfortable for them.
Aderanti also warned gangs, who unleashed terror on residents to change their ways of life, adding that the police would not condone violence in whatever form.
He urged residents to be law abiding, and advised them to shun acts that could compromise the security of the state. (NAN)
