LAGOS – The Lagos State Police Command on Friday said security arrangements were in top gear ahead of Wednesday and Thursday Presidential Primary Election of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also warned all mischief makers– thugs, party members and politicians– to desist from making any attempt to undermine its authority.
Nwosu said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, has re-stated the command’s combat readiness to ensure safe conduct of political activities the till the end of 2015 elections.
“We are combat-ready to ensure safe elections, not only during APC’s primaries, but in all elections and other political parties around the Lagos metropolis.
“Our security is a very robust one which will cover every part of Lagos and everywhere will be guarded by our men,’’ he said.
Nwosu said police would was be committed in making sure that the state was free from thuggery, crime and any form of illegality.
“We will not tolerate any form of thuggery and illegal act within this period.
“We have been making sure Lagos is safe from crime and we will continue to make it safe, not for only the residents, but also for businessmen doing transactions, expatriates and others generally,’’ he explained.
Nwosu, disclosed further that in addition to their readiness and preparedness for the election, the Police Commissioner had met with leaders of the political parties and their followers.
“The Commissioner of Police has met with all political heads in his aim at ensuring a better Lagos and a safe election,’’ he said.
Nwosu, urged every resident of Lagos to be calm and go about their normal businesses, adding that the police was making sure Lagos was free from crime. (NAN)
