Abuja (Sundiata Post) – A group under the aegis of Tazarce Solidarity group has issued a stern warning against attempts to undermine the current President of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), in Plateau State, Comrade Makwin Arandong.
The warning comes ahead of the NULGE delegates conference scheduled for September 17, 2024.
During a press briefing in Jos, Comrade Hillary Shown, Director-General of the Arandong Campaign Organization, addressed allegations from a faction led by Comrade Izere Maxwell Igyem. This faction has accused Arandong of manipulating the election process and misappropriating funds.
Shown dismissed these allegations as unfounded and false. He noted that the accusers were part of a peace and reconciliation meeting at the NULGE national secretariat on August 28, 2024, where an agreement and memorandum of understanding were signed regarding the election.
The pro-Arandong group emphasized that baseless accusations against Arandong would not be tolerated. Shown explained that the screening of candidates was conducted according to the Union’s constitution and that disqualifications were justified.
Regarding the financial misappropriation claims, Shown found them laughable, stating that the Federal Housing Mortgage Bank deducts 2.5% from staff salaries for loan schemes, which many staff members have benefited from.
The Tazarce Solidarity group pledged to resist any efforts to sabotage Arandong’s leadership and the upcoming NULGE delegates conference.
