LAGOS – A 22-year-old man who allegedly broke into a shop and stole N317, 500 worth of mobile phones and accessories, was on Friday brought before an Ojokoro Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendant, David Olem, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and theft.
The prosecutor, Insp Lugard Ahonle, told the court that Olem committed the offences on June 6, at No. 31, Jonathan Coker St, Fagba, Iju-Ishaga, Lagos at 12:45 a.m.
“Olem and others now at large broke into one Idowu Fashola’s shop and stole moblie phones and accessories valued at N317, 500.
“Olem was however, apprehended by the vigilante men whom had been on his trail, while others escaped,” he said.
The alleged offences, according to him, contravened Sections 285 and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A Layinka, subsequently granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Aug. 7, for mention. (NAN)
