Ikorodu (Lagos State) – A 26-year-old man, Emma Bayoade, has appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing curtains and other items worth N131,500.
The accused, whose address was not stated, is facing a four-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing before Magistrate Bola Olagbegi-Adelabu.
Bayoade, however, pleaded not guilty.
But the prosecutor, Cpl. Mary Ajiteru, said the accused with others still at large committed the offences on July 25 at Holy Cross Redeemer Close, Gbaga area of Ikorodu at about 1.30 p.m.
According to him, the accused and others broke into the complainant’s house (names withheld) and stole items such as bed spread, pillow cases, standing mirrors, make-up kith, curtains and freezer valued at N65,000, one DVD player and water dispenser.
He said the items were worth N131,500.
Ajiteru told the court that the accused and his accomplices also conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The offences contravened Sections, 166(d), 305, 348 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The magistrate granted the accused a N50, 000 bail with one responsible surety and adjourned the case to Sept. 12 for mention. (NAN)
