Mararaba(Nasarawa State) – The police on Friday arraigned a 23-year-old vagrant, Moses Jacob, in a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Nasarawa State, for alleged membership of a gang of thieves and snatching cell phone valued at N14,000.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, told the court that a team of detectives, led by Sgt. Chukwudi Ubabuike attached to `A’ Divisional Police Station, Mararaba, arrested the accused.
Adaji said the accused was arrested based on information that a gang of thieves gathered behind KAPDA Market, Mararaba.

He said that during the raid, a Samsung dual sim cell phone, valued at N14, 000 was found with the accused, which he confessed to have stolen.
Adaji said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 306 and 292 of the Penal Code.
Under the section, if found guilty, an accused could spend eight years in prison or an option of fine.
The Presiding Judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Aug. 3, for further hearing.(NAN)
