Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Special Military Task Force in Plateau State codenamed Operation Safe Haven has again killed bandits and armed robbers terrorising some parts of Plateau.
The offensive against the troubleshooters was carried out under the operations campaign tagged “LAFIYAN JAMA’A”, a statement sent by the Military Spokesman, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, said.
According to him: “In continuation of frantic military efforts to frustrate the activities of non-state actors, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A have neutralised a wanted notorious bandit and an armed robber in Plateau State.
“The elimination of the bandit followed intense clearance operations conducted by troops at Kampani Zurak in Wase local government area (LGA) of the State on 24 March 2025.
“The bandit, a member of the Auta-led banditry syndicate, had been operating in Wase general area and Taraba State before he was neutralised”.
Zhakom added that on 24 March 2025, troops also received a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery incident along Bokkos – Richa road in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State.
“Troops mobilised to the area, made contact and overwhelmed the criminals with superior firepower during which one of the armed robbers was neutralised and others fled in disarray. Troops recovered one AK-47 rifle from the neutralised criminal.
“The recovered weapon is in custody, while troops are currently conducting follow-up operations to intercept other fleeing members of the armed robbery gang.
“Operation SAFE HAVEN will remain decisive in its onslaught against criminal elements, while efforts to keep the Joint Operations Area safe will also be sustained”, he said,
