GENEVA (Sundiata Post) – The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has warned governors pushing for decentralised salary for workers to desist or face the wrath of workers.
Its president, Joe Ajaero, who spoke with Daily Sun at the 112 International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland, insisted that governors cannot push for decentralised salaries “because their own salary are not decentralised.”
He also challenged the governors to subject themselves to a decentralised salary from the Federal Government.
Speaking against the backdrop of the ongoing minimum wage negotiation and states reaction on affordability, Ajaero said: “The governors from states where you even get nothing are still earning the same salary as governors that you’re getting billions from. So, how hypocritical those states governors could be?”
The Labour leader said he does not know what the governors mean by decentralisation of wages.
