Yenagoa – A new Commissioner of Police, Mr Don Awunah, has assumed duty in Bayelsa, with a promise to ensure people-oriented policing in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that he took over from the former Commissioner, Mr Asuquo Amba, who has been moved to the Force Headquarters.
Addressing newsmen at the police command headquarters in Yenagoa on Monday, Awunah promised to ensure security of the state, through proper intelligence gathering.
He promised to reorganise anti-terrorism unit in the state to guarantee safety of Nigerians living in the state.
According to him, “the command under me will operate a people oriented policing, problem solving policing and employ all necessary apparatus to ensure safety of the state”.
Before his deployment to the state, Awunah was the Commissioner in charge of Anti-terrorism Unit at the Force Headquarters.
He previously served as Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom and the Police Public Relations Officer at the force headquarters in Abuja at different times. (NAN)
