NASSARAWA EGGON – Corruption, Injustice and Abuse of Office Awareness Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has called for collective effort among Nigerians to tackle corruption in the country.
The initiator of the NGO, Prof. Amos Awodiya, made the call on Friday in Nassarawa Eggon, Nassarawa state, at a sensitisation workshop on corruption organised by the organisation for officials of 13 local government councils in the state.
He said that corruption and injustice had militated against the socio-economic development of the country.
He said that the NGO was established to contribute in the fight against corruption, violation of civil rights, embezzlement of public funds and other social ills plaguing the nation.
“We deem it necessary to organise this workshop to educate the people on how to fight corruption, violation of civil rights and embezzlement of public funds.[eap_ad_2]
“For Nigeria to achieve speedy development, the citizens must shun corruption, injustice and abuse of office,’’ he said.
Awodiya urged the participants to take advantage of the knowledge garnered at the workshop to tackle the societal ills.
He urged public office holders in the country to ensure accountability, transparency and good governance while discharging their duties.
One of the participants, Mr Sani Umar, who spoke on behalf of others, commended the NGO for organising the workshop.
He said that the workshop had equipped them with the knowledge on how to tackle corruption and other ills in the society. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
