Ado-Ekiti – The National President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Rotimi Oladele, on Thursday charged members of the institute to uphold the integrity, ethics and good character of the profession.
Oladele gave the charge in Ado-Ekiti while inaugurating the new executives of the institute in Ekiti.
“For any member of the institute to excel in the public relations profession, such an individual must be equipped with the basic training and skills.
“Public Relations is about integrity, excellence, professionalism and building mutual relationship that are beneficial to a corporate body.
“For a good public relations officer to be successful, such must be of good character and integrity, which would help protect the good image of his organisation.
“We are committed to the progress and development of our members in Ekiti, that is why we have decided that a training and study centre should be established.
“Henceforth, all examinations of the institute will be conducted in Ekiti, instead of members travelling to Lagos and Ibadan to sit for the examination.
“This is why we have decided to establish a training centre in Ekiti , which is the fountain of knowledge, “he said.
He said that the national executive officers of the institute would be coming to the state to organise workshops for public relations officers in the ministries, organisations and local governments.
He charged members who had yet to complete their financial requirement according to the rules and regulations of the institute to do so.

He said that any member who failed to meet up with the necessary financial requirement as constituted by the institute would not be allowed to function as a public relations officer. (NAN)
