Lafia – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State on has trained no fewer than 350 of its officers on intelligent gathering and prosecution techniques.
Malam Lawan Bashir-Kano, the Commandant, said at a three-day workshop in Lafia on Friday that the training became necessary to facilitate the prosecution of the cases before the command.
Bashir-Kano pointed out that the workshop would expose the officers and equipped them with the techniques of prosecution in line with global best practice.
“When we prosecute some of these cases in the court, because of one lapses or the other from our personnel the accused gets away free even though they are really guilty of some of these crimes.
“At the end of the training workshop, our officers will be better equipped with the requisite technical knowhow to prosecute cases successfully at the law court,” he added.
The commandant said that the National Headquarters of NSCDC had given the command the nod to organise the workshop in line with the core mandate of the corps.
He said the officers were drown from intelligent and investigation, anti-vandals , critical infrastructures protection and public relations departments of all the commands in the state.
Bashir-Kano assured the public of the corps determination to respond promptly to any intelligent reports and act timely in order to avoid damage of any kind.
He, therefore, appealed to the public to be more vigilant, corporate with the corps and feed them with information about any suspicious person, movement or activities for prompt action. (NAN)
