Uyo – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom command, has warned vandals in the state to steer clear of government property to avoid unpleasant consequences.
Mr Emmanuel Ojeniyi, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, gave the warning on Wednesday in Uyo while briefing newsmen.
He said the command would not relent in its mandate to protect oil pipelines across the country and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) transformers within its area of command.
He said the command would work in partnership with other security agencies and the electricity company to achieve its objective.
“We thank God that we are doing our job. We have been given the opportunity to monitor pipelines in Akwa Ibom and other states in the federation where we have pipelines.
“We have been monitoring all areas prone to vandalism and by the grace of God, we are doing our job.
“Just last week, we confiscated drums of adulterated products and took them to our exhibit site,’’ he said.
The commandant said the command was prosecuting some vandals in court to serve as deterrent to others who might wish to join the illegal business.
He solicited the support and cooperation of other sister agencies to ensure security of lives and property. (NAN)
