LOKOJA- The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, has commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for domesticating “GYB Essay Competition for Journalists” in the state
The council gave the commendation in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Adeiza Mlmohjimoh and Secretary, Seidu Haruna, on Friday in Lokoja.
“We, on behalf of working journalists in Kogi State, convey our appreciation to His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello the Governor of Kogi State, for domesticating the GYB essay competition for journalists in the state.
“The programme, whose first and second editions held in Abuja in 2021 and 2022, has the endorsement of the National Secretariat of our great Union (NUJ).
“The domestication of the programme, therefore, has given ample opportunities to journalists in Kogi State to sharpen their writing skills, thereby promoting professionalism .
“On behalf of those that won prizes running into millions of Naira, we thank His Excellency for changing their stories for the better,”, the council stated.
The council equally appealed to the organizers that the next edition slated for September, should accommodate journalists from broadcast media houses and state-owned media outfits.
The union pledged its support to the programmes and policies of the government under the leadership of Gov. Bello, and wished him well in all endeavors. (NAN)
