SANGO-OTA (OGUN) – Two men – Seun Delani and Wale Akin, who allegedly stole a Nokia phone valued at N12,000, and N12,000 cash, were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court, Ogun.
Delani, 22, and Akin, 25 whose addresses are unknown, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Itaita Ebibomini, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. at Oju-Ore Junction, Ota.
Ebibomini said the accused stole a Nokia phone valued at N12,000 and N12,000 cash, belonging to one Isiaka Yusuf
He said the accused waylaid their victim at Oju-Ore junction and snatched his mobile phone and the cash.
“The accused were later apprehended after the complainant reported the incident to the police, the prosecutor said.
According to the him, the offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 519 of the Criminal Code, Revised Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Bello ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government as part of the bail conditions.
She adjourned further hearing in the case till Jan. 5, 2015. (NAN)
