OWERRI – The police in Imo State has paraded four persons who allegedly specialised in car and motorcycle theft with another five-man gang of armed robbers that has been terrorising the state.
Briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Owerri, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, said that two other suspects were killed in an exchange of gun fire with the police.
Ali said that items recovered from the gang included one Nissan Infinity jeep, two laptops, one LCD television and many handsets.
Others are two locally made pistols with 10 live cartridges, one Q-link motorcycle, one Toyota Avalon car and one Toyota Rav 4 jeep.
The commissioner warned residents of the state to conduct themselves carefully as the command would embark on aggressive “stop-and-search” operations.
“Imo State will be too hot for criminals, robbers, kidnappers and people involved in other forms of illegality.
“They are therefore advised to stay clear of the state as the men of the command have been detailed to every nook and cranny of the state.
“Parents and guardians are warned to carefully monitor the movements of their wards for them not to fall into the waiting hands of the scorpion squad,” he said. (NAN)
