PORT HARCOURT – Chief Precious Elekima, leader Kalabari stakeholders of Rivers PDP, said on Friday that the most credible candidate should emerge as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2015 election.
Elekima told newsmen in Port Harcourt that advocates of zoning the governorship office to a particular ethnic group in the state did not mean well for the party.
He said there was no written agreement by the ethnic groups in the state to rotate the office of the governor and that those clamouring for zoning were speaking for themselves and not for the party.
“We have not mandated or asked any of them to go and speak on our behalf.
“As far as I am concerned, the Kalabari people and riverine people are satisfied with Nyesom Wike’s (aspiration).
“We are not discussing ethnic matter here. Even if we are discussing ethnic matter, I do not know at what time in our history that has played a role in determining who should govern us.
“As far as we are concerned, the best material is who we want and if Nyesom Wike has all the strength and energy to throw away APC from government, it is he we have chosen,’’.
He said that the party’s objective was to retake power from the APC and occupy the government house in the 2015.
Elekima also urged Rivers people to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan to continue the good works he was doing for the country through the transformation agenda. (NAN)
