Enugu – The Enugu State Government says the result of suspected case of coronavirus test in the state is negative.
Dr. Ifeanyi Agujiobi, Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Health, disclosed this in a statement titled: “Update on the Suspected Case of COVID-19 in Enugu’’ on Monday.
Agujiobi also urged the residents of the state to go about their daily normal business activities without fear or panic.
He, however, urged the residents to remain alert and vigilant about their health and health issues around them.
“The Enugu State Ministry of Health hereby inform the general public that we have received the result of the suspected corona virus investigation sent to IRUA Specialist Hospital, which is further corroborated by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as NEGATIVE.
“We hereby enjoin the general public to go about their normal business; however to remain alert and vigilant on all health issues,’’ he said.
According to him, residents should always observe basic personal health hygiene.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state government announced the discovery of a suspected case of the disease in a hospital facility in Enugu on Sunday.
The government, however, said it had sent sample collected from the suspected patient for investigations in IRUA Specialist Hospital in Edo State.
The suspected female case had reportedly been in United Kingdom in the last five months and came into Enugu through Owerri on March 11, to see her son.
