IBADAN – A man, Sakiru Adebayo,37, was arraigned on Thursday in an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Iyaganku for alleged kidnapping of two persons.The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Ogunremi, told the court that Adebayo unlawfully kidnapped one Lanre Salami, 25, and Dare Ogunkunle, 23.
He said the accused, a customer of Salami, who was a commercial motorcyclist, had asked to be taken to Soka area of Ibadan.
The prosecutor said the commercial motorcyclist invited his brother to accompany him to Soka place with Adebayo.
He said the duo had since disappeared, adding that the offence was committed on March 20 at Olunloyo Agbongbon area of Ibadan.
Ogunremi said the offence contravened section 364 (2) of the Criminal Code Cap.38, Vol. 11, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Sofiat Oyediran, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oyediran said one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused while the second must possess three years tax clearance certificate.
She adjourned the case till June 25 for mention.(NAN)
