LAGOS (Sundiata Post) – St. Nicholas Hospital has refuted reports that one of the victims of last week’s Lekki Toll Gate alleged shooting by soldiers had died and the body was discovered by relatives in its mortuary.
In a statement on Monday, the highbrow private hospital located in Lagos Island in Lagos, Nigeria, said it “fully identify with the current situation and our sympathy is with the victims of the unfortunate incident. “However, false information, especially at this critical times, should not be encouraged.
“Please note that the said victim never presented at any of St. Nicholas Hospital facilities. Also, St. Nicholas Hospital does not have a mortuary, hence this news is false and should not be encouraged to trend further.
A civil rights activist, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, had tweeted that one “Folorunso Olabisi was listed missing following the #LekkiMassacre. His body was found by his relatives at the mortuary of St. Nicholas Hospital Lagos, with three bullet wounds. He was buried today. #RIP.”
