AWKA – The Senior Special Assistant to the Anambra State Governor on Media, Mr James Eze, said on Thursday that the state government would rehabilitate the roads leading to the famous Ogbunike caves.
Eze said in a statement in Awka that the contract for the road had been awarded at the rate of N2 billion.
“The contractor for the road project has been mobilised up to 30 per cent of the contract sum while the project will be launched in the next two weeks.
“I believe that the roads will open up the Ogbunike community and create both business and income generation opportunities for the youth in the area,’’ he said.
Eze said the state government would transform the cave into a world class tourist attraction, explaining that the feasibility study was underway for its renovation.
He urged the community to be part of the state government’s agricultural programme geared to achieve food sufficiency and food security. (NAN)
