ANKARA – Turkey has condemned a suicide bomb attack in eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar which killed three Turkish engineers and injured another one on Monday, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry.
“We strongly condemn this flagrant attack and expect Afghan officials to arrest the assailants immediately’’, the statement issued by Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
The blast took place at 7:15 a.m. in Behsoud District outside provincial capital Jalalabad city.
The victims were serving in a local construction firm in charge of building police facilities in the province, 120 kilometres east of Kabul.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban insurgent group was likely behind it.
The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the militant group launched an annual rebel offensive against Afghan government forces.
The Taliban urged civilians to stay away from official gatherings, military convoys and centres regarded as the legitimate targets by militants, warning people not to support the government and foreign troops. (Xinhua/NAN)
