LAGOS – Prof. John Obafunwa, the Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University, on Saturday blamed heavy duty vehicles for some bad roads within the campus.
Obafunwa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that it was natural for the roads to go bad since constructions were still ongoing.
“It is a fact that you win some and loose some as the university will experience a big transformation after the constructions and the bad roads will be put in order,’’ he said .
The vice-chancellor said that the Chinese company handling the projects, CCECC, was also grading the roads for free on monthly basis to prevent the roads from going worse.
He said that while the roads were regularly being amended, a permanent solution to the problem was to build drainage after the construction work was over.
Obafunwa said that the Lagos State Government had offered to assist in fixing the roads.
He commended the efforts of the state government for the ongoing construction works in the university.
Obafunwa appealed to members of the public to bear with the authorities until the construction works were over. (NAN)
