Renowned journalist and public relations consultant, Sam Ekpe, has been inducted into the distinguished Enugwu-Ukwu Traditional Cabinet.
The elaborate installation ceremony took place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Obu Umunri.
Chief Ekpe received the title Ezenwa di gbo Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri, while his wife, Chief Mrs. Vivian Ekpe, was honored with the title Chibundu Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri.
With a long and illustrious career, Chief Ekpe previously served as the Public Relations Officer to the late Dr. K.O. Mbadiwe, a Presidential Advisor during Nigeria’s Second Republic. He also acted as Mbadiwe’s Special Adviser during his tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Ekpe further contributed to the corporate world as the Public Relations Manager of the defunct Orient Bank of Nigeria, where he served throughout its 13-year existence.
Beyond his professional achievements, Chief Ekpe is actively involved in the affairs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and the United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide, reflecting his deep commitment to the Igbo community.
The installation has drawn congratulations from prominent figures across Nigeria, including Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, Dr. Kema Chikwe, Ambassador Greg Mbadiwe, Architect Oba Donald Nwandu, and Beluolisa Nwofor SAN, among others.
This honor underscores Chief Ekpe’s contributions to public service, community development, and the preservation of Igbo heritage.
