Sakpeenwa (Rivers) – Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Thursday promised that his administration would complete the 16-kilometre Sakpeenwa-Bori road project in spite of dwindling revenue.
Wike made the promise at the inauguration of a dual carriage way road project in Sakpeenwa, Tai Local Government Area as part of activities marking his one year in office.
He assured that his administration would complete the project within 12 months to ease the suffering of motorists.
According to him, the road which is strategic will connect Sakpeenwa and Bori, saying that when completed, it will boost economic and social activities in the area.
“My administration is passionate about Sakpeenwa-Bori road project because it was part of my campaign promises to the Ogoni people, that the road would be upgraded to a dual carriage way.
“We promised our people that we are not going to play politics with road projects, we will do everything possible to diligently fund this road project.
“We have started discussion with China Civil Engineering Construction Company to ensure the road is completed in 12 months, rather than earlier 15 months scheduled plan,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Wike also inaugurated the 14-kilometre Rumuokwurusi-Eneka-Igwuruta road and a water project in Eleme Local Government Area of the state. (NAN)
