A 33-year-old man, identified as Ademola Akinlosotu, has confessed to a horrifying scheme involving the exhumation of corpses from cemeteries and selling body parts to practitioners of money rituals in Lagos State.
Akinlosotu made this shocking revelation during a presentation by the Lagos State Police Command on Friday, May 3, 2024.
The suspect, presented alongside nine other alleged ritualists, detailed his involvement in acquiring human parts from corpses buried in cemeteries, progressing eventually to committing murders—a grisly trade he had been engaged in for years.
The ringleader of the gang admitted to transitioning from grave robbing to outright murder, as his clients demanded fresh body parts rather than those obtained from corpses.
Akinlosotu confessed to orchestrating the killings with accomplices, supplying the harvested parts to a 52-year-old individual known as Ahmed Wahab, alias Alfa Bororo, who operated between Badagry in Lagos State and Ogun State to cater to his clientele.
He divulged that a fresh human head fetched between N45,000 and N50,000, while a dried one sold for N30,000 to N35,000. Additionally, a heart could fetch N70,000, and hands were priced at N50,000.
The suspect admitted to being directly involved in the murder of two individuals, one of whom was a friend he met through social media, prior to his apprehension.
He revealed that before carrying out any killing, they consulted a herbalist to seek guidance from an oracle to ascertain the success or potential repercussions of the act.
Akinlosotu disclosed a chilling request from a traditional ruler in Badagry, who sought his son’s demise due to familial disputes.
On the scheduled day of the intended killing, his social media acquaintance visited him and fell victim to the gruesome fate.
Akinlosotu emphasized that he only required the victim’s head, heart, and hands for his operations.
Commenting on the case, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, assured that thorough investigations were ongoing, with the suspects to be prosecuted upon the conclusion of inquiries.
