The long-awaited student loan scheme finally launched on Friday, targeting to make higher education more accessible to needy students. The first phase of the scheme will benefit students at 126 federal institutions.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) announced that 1.2 million students from federal universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and technical colleges are set to benefit initially. State-owned institutions are also expected to join the program in subsequent phases.
Eligible students can apply for the interest-free loan through the NELFUND website at portal.nelf.gov.ng.
