LAGOS – Fairtrade, a firm of German trade show specialists, on Saturday said that over 1,300 visitors were expected at the 2nd Agrofood and Plastprintpack Nigeria fair holding from April 26 to April 28.
The organisation said in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that over 70 technology leaders from 19 countries would display their latest solutions at the event.
The statement said the three-day seminar on food and drink technology, organised alongside the exhibition would lead to the development of the nation’s agrofood and plastprintpack.
It noted that some of the countries that would showcase their latest technologies at the fair were Austria, Republic of Benin, China, France, Germany, India, Morocco, Netherlands and Nigeria.
Others are Poland, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and USA.
It added that the event was being supported by the delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS and Austria.
Others are AHK-Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, Nigerian-German Business Association and IOPN-Institute of Packaging Nigeria.
The statement also said that the three-day event would take place at the Landmark Centre on Victoria Island Annex in Lagos.
Mr. Martin März, Managing Director, Fairtrade, was quoted by the statement as saying that “agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria supports the Nigerian agrofood industry to meet its challenges”.
“März says the event will aid the industry to meet its challenges in terms of food hygiene, food safety, cost efficiency and creating an ever greater diversity of food and beverage products.
“It is all about technological exchange and cooperation between Nigerian food and drink producers and international specialists for food ingredients and food and packaging technology.’’
Fairtrade was founded by März in 1991 and ranks among the leading organisers of professional international trade fairs in emerging markets.
The company with headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany, is also a member of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. (NAN)
