2015 Federation Cup: Lagos FA assures football fans of fun, adequate security

Lagos  – Ayo Agbesanwa the Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission on Thursday assured football lovers of adequate security and fun filled 2015 Federation Cup finals.

The finals are scheduled for the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on Nov. 22.

Akwa United of Uyo will slug it out with Lobi Stars of Makurdi in the male championship while in the female category the battle will be between Sunshine Queens of Akure and Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa.

Agbesanwa said that there would also be a parade of past stars as well as the honouring of outstanding players, including posthumous awards.

Also to be honoured are referees and journalists who distinguished themselves.

The DG said that there would also be a raffle draw where some spectators could win cash prizes.

Similarly, he said, free t-shirts would be given to first 500 fans to enter the stadium.

“The first spectators to arrive in the stadium would get a free t-shirt and the admission into the game is absolutely free.

“We want to create a good atmosphere for football loving families to enjoy the game of football, so we would ensure adequate security at the stadium,’’ he said.

Seyi Akinwunmi, the Chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSSFA) and chairman of the organising committee said that facilities at the stadium had been upgraded.

“We have put in place all necessary measures to welcome the general public to day of football fiesta in Lagos, there would be no security breaches.

“All football fans interested in watching the finals are welcome to experience football in Lagos.

“ There would be adequate parking spaces and we encourage everyone to come and enjoy,’’ Akinwunmi said.

Akniwumi, who is also First Vice-President of Nigeria Football Federation, said that N6 million would be won at the final by the participating teams and players.

He gave the brake down as follows; N2 million for male winners while the runner-up takes N1 million.In the female category the winner will go home with N1 million and runner-up gets N500, 000.

The winner of fair play winner, in the male competition, would receive N300,000, Most Valuable player will pocket N300,000 and the top goal scorer receives N200, 000.

In the female category, Most Valuable Player receives N200, 000 while top scorer receives N100, 000. (NAN)
