Jos, Nigeria: Yet to be identified armed men, on Sunday killed four people in Central Nigeria’s Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The killings took place at about 7pm local time in Tiana village, few meters to the Sector 6 military Task Force base in the locality.
Three teenagers were gunned down on a bypass while an adult youth leader was stabbed in the residential area of the community.
Two of the teenagers died instantly while the other died Tuesday morning at the hospital.
The Chairman of Riyom Local Government Area, Mafeng Gwalson has however placed the total casualty figure at three.
“An attack was reported Sunday night where three teenagers were shot. Two died at the spot and I just confirmed the only survivor died this morning. The victims were just within the range of 13 years,” Gwalson told MK in a text message.
The attack came 24hours after a returning internally displaced person killed on February 3, 2020 was buried in Kura Falls, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
Mr. Wurim Datai Patrick was killed when suspected Fulani herdsmen armed with AK47 rifles launched simultaneous attacks on newly resettled IDPs in Nghar, Kurra Falls and Kurra Berom villages in Gashish District.
Gashish was attacked in June 2018 by suspected herdsmen.
Over 250 people were reportedly killed with over 30,000 others displaced.
The displaced camping in different locations in the state were returned home by civil authorities in December 2019.
No less than six attacks have been reported in the communities since the IDPs’ return.
