Sango-Ota – An Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Monday, granted four men standing trial for breach of the peace an N800,000 bail.
The accused are: Sodiq Bello, 31; Akeem Bello, 29; Lukman Bello, 28, and Lateef Ibiyemi, 22,whose house addresses, were not given.
The four are facing a two-count of breach of the peace and conspiracy.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 after they all pleaded not guilty of the offences.
Akinyemi ordered each of the accused to produce two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case until Feb.6, for further hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, had told the court that the accused with others still at large, committed the alleged offences on Dec. 25, at about 1.30a.m. at Temidire area of Ota in Ogun.
He told the court that alleged that the accused persons conducted had attacked themselves with dangerous weapons like cutlasses and axes.
The prosecutor added that the action of the accused had created tension and fear in the community and was likely to cause breach of the peace.
He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 83 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
