Abuja – Teams from five schools and clubs are expected to feature in the forthcoming two-day Anambra Cricket Tournament scheduled to begin on July 7 in Awka.
Emeka Igwilo, Regional Development Officer (South East) of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday.
Igwilo said the tournament would be sponsored by Victor Obidike, the Vice-Chairman of the Anambra State Cricket Association.
“The sponsor of the event is a veteran in the sport, and he plans to introduce kids to the sport as part of the game’s grassroots development,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the participating schools are Bishop Crowther Seminary in Awka, Comprehensive Secondary School at Nawfia, and Regal Secondary School at Nri.
The participating clubs are United Warriors Cricket Club and Royal Dragons Cricket Club, both of Awka.
