In its effort to contain the spread of the killer disease, Ebola virus, the Akwa Ibom Government says it has concluded arrangement to decongest all public mortuaries across the state through mass burial for all corpses it its hospitals.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ememabsi Bassey, who made this known yesterday in Uyo, said the disposal of the corpses is one of the measures taken by the government to contain the spread of diseases associated with dead bodies.[eap_ad_2]
He explained that in the next one week, all corpses in government hospitals in Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Oron local government areas would be disposed of.
The action, according to the health commissioner, will be extended to other local government areas soonest in line with proper health management.
Bassey therefore called on members of the public whose relatives’ corpse are still being kept in government hospitals’ mortuaries to take immediate steps in removing them with immediate effect.
He said that henceforth, government will no longer accept any corpse from individuals in any of its mortuaries at the general hospitals noting that the measure is to ensure a safe and secured environment for the people in this Ebola crisis period. (Leadership)[eap_ad_3]
