Lagos – A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday remanded a 29-year-old man, Nurudeen Egeberongbe, for allegedly dealing in drugs.
Egeberongbe is facing a two-count charge of drug dealing.
Justice Mohammed Yunusa ordered the remand of the accused after the prosecution and defence counsel had argued for and against the bail applications of the accused.
“The accused should be remanded in Ikoyi prison,’’ he said and adjourned the case to Dec. 4 for ruling on the application for bail.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
The prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 14.
He said that the accused was arrested at Victor Aremu Street in Idimu, a suburb of Lagos, with about 700 grammes of Cannabis Sativa, popularly called: “Indian hemp’’.
The prosecutor also said that not less than 30 grammes of Rophynol, a psychotropic substance similar to cocaine, was also recovered from the accused.
Aernan said that the offences contravened Sections 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
