Osogbo – Twenty youths from Osun, who were selected for training in modern technology in agricultural practices in Germany, completed their German Language training in Osogbo on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the youths were trained in German language for effective inter-personal communication in agriculture and food production technology programme slated for Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Speaking after the progamme, Mr Dele Ogundipe, the training coordinator, said agricultural development had always been the cardinal objective of the state government.
Ogundipe said that the State Government had in May 2012 made contact with the state of Saxony-Anhalt in Germany to assist in the area of agricultural development.
He said the assistance was sought in order to further develop agriculture in Osun
The coordinator said that the beneficiaries were taught the rudiments of German language in relations to agriculture.
In his remarks, Mr Ronald Kley, the German language instructor for the youths, expressed delight at the level of understanding and assimilation of the youths involved in the training.
“It has been a worthwhile experience so far, the students’ performances have been very encouraging.
“I can say that they are fully ready to go to Germany and learn modern techniques in agriculture, which will help the state,” he said.
One of the trainees, Miss Comfort Olanibi, described the programme as one that would go a long way in taking the jobless youths off the streets.
“I am so delighted to be a part of this programme because it will continue to change my life for the better.” (NAN)
