As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and First Exploration & Production Limited (First E&P) joint venture (JV) have generously donated a total of N53 million to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) across Nigeria.
Through the JV’s Impact First Initiative, the donation aims to bolster societal welfare by addressing key areas such as healthcare, education, and economic growth within the nation.
During the cheque presentation ceremony, Mr. Bala Wunti, Chief Upstream Investment Officer (CUIO) of NNPC Ltd’s NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), expressed heartfelt appreciation to First E & P for spearheading this commendable programme.
Representing Mr. Wunti, Mrs. Edith Lawson, Deputy Manager of External Relations at NUIMS, reiterated NNPC Ltd’s staunch belief in the transformative power of CSR, affirming the company’s steadfast commitment to collaborating with partners to uplift the lives of the underprivileged.
Mr. Wunti highlighted various projects and initiatives carried out under the Impact First Initiative, including the establishment of classrooms, ICT centers, laboratories, scholarships, skill acquisition programs, and economic empowerment schemes. These efforts underscore NNPC’s dedication to fostering sustainable development across Nigeria.
Commending First E & P for its foresight and leadership, Mr. Wunti emphasized the partner’s instrumental role in driving meaningful change for a brighter future for all Nigerians.
Among the esteemed beneficiaries of the donation were organizations such as the Irede Foundation, dedicated to providing custom-made artificial limbs to child amputees, and the Human Development Initiative (HDI), focused on addressing issues of poverty, injustice, and equality among vulnerable populations.
Additionally, support was extended to the OISA Foundation, which transforms lives through interventions in education and healthcare, the Cerebral Palsy Center, offering assistance to families with children affected by cerebral palsy, and the Niola Cancer Care Foundation, which conducts awareness campaigns and community screenings for colon cancer.”
