Abeokuta – A herbalist, Alani Durojaiye, 37, on Friday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrate’s Court, charged with defrauding a man of N935,000 after pretending to be a herbalist.
Durojaiye, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Mr Moshood Hammed, had told court that the accused committed the offences on May 21 at Ita-Oshin Roundabout in Abeokuta.
Hammed alleged that the accused defrauded one Muhammed Jimi of N935, 000 under the pretext that he could prepare a charm that would make Jimi to prosper but the charm failed to work.
The prosecutor told court that the accused had posed as a herbalist to defraud Hammed, an offence that contravened Sections 418 and 419 of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mr Martins Akinyemi, after taking the accused person’s plea, granted him bail in the sum of N600, 000 with two surties in like sum
He adjourned the case till July 25 for hearing. (NAN)
