Ouagadougou – Burkina Faso’s Environment, Green Economy and Climate Change ministry on Wednesday
reiterated the government’s commitment to preserve the Ozone layer.
The announcement was made in the run-up to celebrations to mark the World Ozone Day which would be held on Sept. 16, 2016.
The government said in a statement that the country would mark the day with awareness activities during which it would urge every citizen to commit to proper waste management to preserve the Ozone layer and the climate.
It added that Burkina Faso was firmly committed to taking necessary actions to reduce the impact of human activities on the Ozone layer.
The ministry equally noted that the government understood the negative consequences of climate change such as floods, droughts, loss of crop harvests as well as livestock and fluctuations in the climatic conditions.
It further reiterated its active participation in the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement whose ratification is ongoing.
