Osogbo – Osun Government says it has received N6.314 billion as the second tranche of the Paris Club refund from the Federal Government.
Mr Semiu Okanlawon, the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Okanlawon said that the refund was paid into the state coffers on July 17.
He said the state government would utilised the refund in the best interest of the people.
He said that the state government had promised to utilise the state resources for the best interest of people.
“We hereby restate our commitment to this promise as we begin shortly, transparent deployment on our commitments to the concerned stakeholders,” Okanlawon said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the funds were released to state governments by the Federal Government as part of the wider efforts to stimulate the nation’s economy.
NAN also reports that the funds were specifically designed to support states in meeting payment of outstanding salaries of their workers to alleviate the challenges being faced by workers. (NAN)
