Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Erstwhile National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has boycotted the PDP expanded Caucus meeting which tool place at Wadata House Monday night.
Sheriff confirmed that he shunned the metting partly because he did not get an invitation from the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee coupled with the fact that he was out the country.
He disclosed this in a statement issued by his spokesman, Honourable Benard Mikko.
According to the statement, “Sheriff will address a world press conference to throw light on the way forward after he has received and studied full judgement of the supreme court and analyse its import on our democracy”.
He therefore appealed to all his supporters nationwide not to defect as he is still committed to bringing the party back to grassroots.
Sheriff promised not only to give the people a voice, but added that they will also heard. He promised to collaborate with the anti-corruption networks to bring all corrupt politicians in Nigeria to book, including PDP members having criminal cases bordering on dishonesty and malfeasance.
The PDP expanded Caucus Meeting had past and present governors and National Assembly members elected on the platform of the party in attendance. Others were former Ministers, present and ex-officio members and past President.
Sundiata Post recalls that the Supreme Court had last week sacked the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction after a protracted legal tussle it embarked upon against the Senator Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee.
