KADUNA – The Kaduna State Action Committee on AIDS on Friday distributed food items worth N7.5 million as assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS.
A total of 480 bags of rice, maize and beans, and cartons of vegetable oil were doled out to the group, and members of the Association of Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Nigeria.
Distributing the items, Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Halliru Abubakar, said it was part of state government’s efforts to provide nutritional support to those living with the virus and other vulnerable groups to enhance their living condition.

Abubakar said the administration would continue to develop the capacities of vulnerable groups in the state, so as to contribute meaningfully to the society.
He pledged to work with development partners to ensure positive response in halting the spread of the disease, especially mother-to-child transmission.
Abubakar, therefore, called for more closer collaboration with stakeholders in the campaign to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV and AIDS.
In their separate responses on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Benjamin Daniel and Mr Andy Bako, commended the state government for the gesture, saying it would greatly improve the living condition of the beneficiaries. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
