canvassed support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition.
Jonathan on Nov. 8 in Abuja declared his intention to run for the February presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Okunomo told NAN that Jonathan’s administration had performed creditably well in all facets of the economy to earn him the second term ticket.
The LGA boss added that Jonathan was the best candidate among other candidates from other political parties.
“Jonathan remains the best candidate in the 2015 presidential election because his administration has performed well in all facet of the economy especially on roads, electricity and commerce.
“It’s no news that Gov. Olusegun Mimiko is now in PDP as well as we, his allies in LP. For us in Ilaje and the state at large we will support Jonathan’s ambition,’’ Okunomo said.
The former LGA boss also warned politicians to desist from `do or die’ politics in order not to heat up the polity.
He said that transition from one government to another involved lots of politicking, cross-carpeting and noise saying that politicians should do everything within the ambit of the law.
“Politicians should act within the ambit of the law and desists from `do or die’ politics in order not to heat up the polity,’’ he said.
Okunomo also urged all new and old members of the PDP in the state to work assiduously and give their unflinching support to Gov. Mimiko-led administration for vast dividends of democracy. (NAN)
