SOKOTO – Dec. 6, 2014 (NAN) Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo and presidential aspirant on the platform of APC has promised to provide free education if elected in 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okorocha spoke in Sokoto on Saturday when he addressed the state delegates to the Dec. 10 National Convention of the party.
“I have done it in my schools spread across Nigeria and I will do it again if elected president.
“Currently, there are over 12,000 indigent children in my schools with scores of them from the north”, he added.
Okorocha explained that he was aspiring to become the nation’s president to bring the desired change to the country, “not for money, power or fame.’’
He underscored the need for social justice, equity and fairness in the affairs of Nigeria.
The aspirant further said that he would work to tame the twin monsters of poverty and unemployment in the country.
He also said that Nigerians should trust him due to his track records and love for peace and unity of the nation.
Okorocha pledged to stem the tide of insecurity, illiteracy, poverty, militancy and kidnapping, among other social ills.
“The problems of Nigeria are indeed very surmountable. I promise to do my best to improve the situation of the country.’’
The Acting Chairman of APC in the state, Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, said Okorocha’s visit to Sokoto was a home coming.
The chairman stated that Okorocha was electable due to his sterling qualities, promising that delegates from the state will vote for him. (NAN)
