IKEJA – A 36-year-old driver, Femi Yusuf, who allegedly stole a Jaguar car worth N8 million belonging to his employer, was on Wednesday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused, who resides at No 6, Ogunbiyi St., Iwaya, Yaba, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP. Samson Ekikere, told the court that the accused and others at large, committed the offences at 11.27 a.m. on March 23 at Ascension Anglican Church, Opebi, Ikeja.
He said that Yusuf stole the car after dropping his boss, one Chief Adetayo Oyemade in Church.
According to Ekikere, Yusuf connived with a former driver of his boss, who is still at large, to steal the car, with registration number KJA 701 BC, valued at N8 million.
He said the offence contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Mr Adeola Oyeleke, pleaded for liberal bail conditions for the accused, adding that the car was recovered at Ogbomoso, while the accused was in detention.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Eniola Fabamwo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000, with two responsible sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till June 9, for mention.(NAN)
