Ibadan- The Oyo State Government and the Organised Private Sector have signed a bilateral agreement on the control of gas emission, double taxation and water provision.
The event took place at the mini conference hall of Agodi Gardens, Parliament Road, Agodi Ibadan, on Thursday
Addressing the representatives of the organised private sector in the state, Governor Abiola Ajimobi said government would not engage in any indiscriminate imposition of tax on the private sector.
He gave an assurance that there would be no taxation without agreement with the private sector.
He said Oyo State remained one of the states with the least Internally Generated Revenue as many residents avoided paying taxes.
Ajimobi said the present state government would create avenues for business development and give a sense of belonging to every citizen.
He said government would raise the bar of governance and make it intellectually and issue based.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to developing agriculture by investing over one billion naira in the sector to ensure that Oyo State became self-sufficient in food production.
Ajimobi, however, appealed to the business community to cooperate with the state government in its plan to review taxes for the development of Oyo State.
In separate remarks, Prof. Dupe Olatubosun, Dr Lekan Are and a foreign investor, Mr Chris Bates, all lauded the efforts of Ajimobi toward repositioning the state economically.
They commended the governor for creating an avenue for interaction between the government and the business community. (NAN)
