PORT HARCOURT (Sundiata Post) – Dr. Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State has promised to upgrade the Steel Village in Oyigbo when he becomes governor of Rivers State. The APC candidate also reeled out his roadmap to prosperity which also captures his empowerment scheme for artisans and traders seeking to expand their businesses.
The APC candidate made the pledge during a visit to the village. Peterside who commended the traders for their industry, urged them to support government’s commitment towards employment generation among the youth since that is the only way to mitigate unemployment and the challenges it brings.
“We appreciate you because without your contribution, our drive towards a robust economic order will face a major hiccup. Therefore if our economy must grow, then you must be encouraged by government.

“Let me also use this medium to inform you that my party, the APC says if you live and work here in Rivers State, then nobody has any right to either discriminate against you or intimidate you because you are a tax payer. I therefore wish to assure you that once you are law-abiding, you will enjoy everything every Rivers man and woman enjoys because it is your right.
“We also promise adequate security and any other thing that will assist your work here. In fact, we will be a government of partnership with the Steel Village. But you must play your part. Ensure you collect your voter’s card, go to the polling centre, vote for APC and make sure you defend your vote on 14 and 28 February. When you have done all these, then put yourself under our care, you will not regret identifying with APC”.
Responding on behalf of the traders, the Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Anayo Izuogu and Brother Christian Odumegwu respectively declared the traders loyalty to the government of APC. They hailed Peterside for personally coming to address them, describing the APC candidate as the only candidate who has so far campaigned within the precincts of their market. For that, they promised to support Peterside and other candidates of the APC in all the elections.
