Alhaji Aliyu Bashir, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SARERA) disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
According to him, over 3,000 IDPs were assisted with the fund during their stay at the camp.
He said the agency also collaborated with the United Nations to get relief materials for the displaced persons who were mostly from Adamawa, Borno, Yobe and Taraba.
Bashir added that the displaced persons left their various homes and trooped into the state due to insecurity in their areas.
“The internally displaced persons were accommodated at different locations in the state.
‘’Some were accommodated by the state government, while others lived with their relations”, he said.
He said a total of 390 persons comprising men, women and children were taken to Dawakin Kudu temporary camp.
Bashir explained that the agency, NEMA and other well-to-do individuals had provided support services to the IDPs during their stay at the camp.
The executive secretary said that the Dawakin Kudu camp had been closed, while over 80 per cent of the IDPs had been conveyed back to their respective states of origin.
“For now the other displaced persons living with their relations are staying in 36 houses in six local government areas of the state”, he added. (NAN)
