Abuja- Chairman of JZ United FC of Kafanchan, Godfrey Gaiya, says the club are not playing in Division One of the 2014/2015 Nigeria Nation-Wide League (NNWL) to win at all cost.
Gaiya, a former member of the House of Representatives, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that participating in the league in the current season was to enable them to experiment and nurture a team for the future.
“We got the go ahead to play in this Division One in less than 10 days to the take-off of the Division One; we were actually in Division Two.
“So when there was a vacancy in Division One, we are promoted and we had just 10 days to prepare to compete at the level we’ve found ourselves.
“So, it is an opportunity for us to participate. Our team is not here to win at all cost; we are taking our time to do what is right, to catch them young at the grassroots and to nurture a team that tomorrow will evolve and compete where nobody will be in doubt to the fact that we are qualified to be where we are.
“So for this season, it is for us to experiment; next season we will improve on that and then we will work on that.“
The club is currently playing in Group C1 Division One of the nation-wide league where it is ranking lowest in its group with five points from seven matches. (NAN)
